What would make it do this? We pushed it back in to get him home and it ran fine. It was a pretty tame ride when it popped out is there some sort of C clip like in the cars and trucks to hold them in place?

It is an 05 Grizzly 660.

I remember that being a common issue on the older Grizz 660, but I thought it was the front?

I have never heard of this problem before. Has anyone here used the o-ring and new Yamaha c-clip to solve the problem with any success? I know there is no way he will want to spend $900 bucks on the Gorrilla system.

I have used the new clip with the o-ring several times and it does work. Many times the axle end gets damaged when the axle pops out so be sure to look that over as well as the rear diff splines. The first time I saw this at work I called yamaha and they claimed it happenend due to overloading the suspension. I dont totally agree but its possible.

Thanks kq, I will let him know. I don't think he has had the time to fix this yet.

He was doubling his son when this went on him so over loading is a possibility. The both of them are not very heavy so I hope that was not the case.

i've had that problem on my 660 2006 and it actually happened twice and it was always when i had a passenger i bought new c-clips from yamaha and install them and also adjust the shocks to be a bit stiffer never happened after . And also if your axles gets damaged just at the end past the clips like the first 1/4 inch at the tip of the axles doesn't matter as it doesn't ride on spline en the diff. there is only the rest of the spline that is important the longer part of the spline.
