Here's the tiger tail system. Towing unit, King Quad Mount, and all bolts needed.
You'll need a 14 mm wrench or socket for removing stock mount and installing Tiger Tail mount.

I put the tow system on the mount prior to installing the mounting plate.
If you have big hands (like me) the front bolts can be troublesome. You can pull the rope out for more hand room but enough fudging with them I got them in.
Tighten them down with a 3/4 inch wrench, open end needed for a couple of mine otherwise a box end worked. You'd need narrow wall sockets to use a socket.

Side shot. Notice the built in hook back locations on both sides.
I still need to stretch the rope per instructions. The rope is oval shaped when it comes off the big spools. Stetching it makes it round again which allows it to roll up neater.

No ratchet, it's winds itself back. There is no locking it out. They did this to eliminate the atv getting towed gaining on the tow machine and possibly getting the excess strap wrapped around the wheel

I'd say it goes about 15 pounds with the mount (but didn't actually weigh it), I don't think it will catch any worse than the 2" receiver tube I had on prior to this and I never caught that. The more I saw the system in use the more impressed I became.

JJJ how well does this gizmo hold up to mud and being submerged...i no they must have some plastic gears or if there is metal gears then they are coated in grease and sand loves to tear apart anything it gets its gritty lil hands on....

It is sealed up pretty well from what I can see.
Haven't had an opportunity to use it yet.  . Between not much time to ride, fuel prices, and the state filling in my mudholes.

I sent a PM to Doc Dakota (He is one of the designers of the system) so I'm sure he'll be on to answer any and all questions.
I've spent some time out with him while he was filming videos and was very impressed with what I saw. I see it's main use (for me) will be dragging logs out of the woods. I'm sure there will be stuck rigs to yank on also.

Hello Everyone,
Thanks for your interest in TigerTail. I hope this will answer many of the questions you may have.
The drive mechanism has a heavy duty shaft seal and an o-ring outer seal on the external cover. The external cover and spool are made from a High Strength Composite. Inside is a custom made Stainless Steel Industrial Duty power spring (nothing to corrode).
A brief overview of our lab and field testing includes pressure washing the TigerTail, submerging it in water for two days straight, 15,000+ cycle test, and I ride every day to work and have 2,800 miles on sandy gravel roads. We have cycled in -45F to 105F. We have had prototype units in the field operating in mud, sand, heat, cold, and water locations for over one year with no failures. We have dissected many of these units and they demonstrate little sign of wear and no water entry past the seals.
What you see as a final product has been developed over many generations of prototypes and testing scenarios. After each prototype we made changes and improvements. It has been a long process. We feel we have covered the gamut of field conditions many people will face and have been driven to deliver the best product possible.

Well I can tell you this unit is built tough.
My King came off trailer and I'm guessing it's going to be totalled.
The tiger tail has some paint missing and a slight bend where the hook attaches but works flawlessly. If you look at some of the rear pics you'll see the back took most of the impact, the left rear tire blew the sidewall out and the rear rack in about a foot over the seat.
Not a planned test but shows the quality of the tiger tail.

i think i would buy one if it was cheaper, its hard to justify that over a 20 dollar tow rope. even if it takes me a little longer to hook up, i still get the job done. 160 bucks is a lot for a retractable tow rope. my winch and mounting plate were cheaper than that, and they include electrical, and more parts.
