I searched the post for this particular camera and could not find anyone using it. Has anyone tried the Epic Action Cam? Looks like a good camera with 5mp rating and 200 minutes of 640X480 video with a 4gb sd card. My Sony Handi Cam is awesome, but it only shoots 320X280 on the memory card.
I think you found a very affordable camera that shoots at 640X480.
Has some very great features.
This is definitely worth a try in my book.

I hope my wife reads this and knows how bad I'd like this for Christmas. I think she's already got it so I won't get my hopes up. I don't think she'll know how to get the highlifter springs or the 2" lift kit, so this will be an easy and well deserved buy.
Just good old home movies of the kids will be OK. Just want to see how it looks on Youtube or Photobucket. Cross our fingers.
When you do try the ATV video, try a piece of duct tape on your helmet or industrial Velcro. The front racks make the video too jerky in most cases.

Well I got the cam in and it seems like a fairly good quality camera. I'm going to do a product review on it soon, but for now, here are my first thoughts....
Bets the heck out of my Sony Handicam recording digital onto a memory stick at 340x280. I can get better video using my video capture equipment, but for a one stop shop - I like this little camera.
Out of the package - Easy to use, well made
Accessories - Water proof housing - seems well made for the most part, but the lens cap that screws on is three pieces. The cap, the seal and a thin piece of clear plastic with a blue protective coating that is meant to peel off before use. The cap has a hole in it for the lens. That is the reason for the thin plastic piece that seals the cap with the seal. I think it makes some sense so that the housing lens can be cleaned, but I scratched it with an electronics wipe. I plan on replacing the thin plastic with piece of clear glass that won't scratch when it's wiped off.
Epic supplies two different length straps, one short and one long for mounting, the base and a cushion. It's a little difficult getting the length right to secure the strap with the attached velcro. But it works.
As far as helmet mounting, you'd have to use velcro or glue the base to the helmet and it has to be mounted straight up and down for the video to be oriented right. Otherwise I'll have to dig through my software to see if I have something that I can re-orient the video and be able to mount the camera on the side of the helmet to avoid ripping it off on a tree limb on the trail. The best mounting option for now is on the quad itself.
Photos - Advertised as 5mp. I don't see how at an average of 538kb. The display size was automatically set as 2592x1944. Still - good clear photos.
Automatic White balance - Sort of! Not a camera for low light use at all. Then again, as you'll see in my first test video, it doesn't like the sun either. The camera really needs a sun shade.
Watching video - Camera stores all photos and video on an SD Memory Card - The supplied card is a 2gb standard sd card. I have an HD 4gb on order. Playing the video from the standard sd card is very unstable. I saved the file to my laptop and played it from the hard drive and it was great quality. I'll update that when I get the HD card in.
With a couple of mods (imagine that) this camera should play very well on the trail.

The you tube quality is far less than the actual video. Not sure if one of the moderators can help, but I can offer up the video to be posted directly on NYROC or another higher quality site if need be.
That a nice little set up and looks like pretty good video.
I had the same lighting issue when I got my motocomm system and had it mounted on the side of my helmet. I changed it to under the visor of my helmet and it works a lot better now.
Thanks for sharing the info.
I posted the Video for you.

Not too bad. The Audio sounded pretty good. In the bright light you could see it start to pixel. I'm just wondering how it would be at the lower setting? Another test day
Try downloading to Photobucket.com and see how it comes out. I have been told that downloading into your computer and compressing it with video software will help with the finished product. This is what I have been told, but not all up on facts or fiction. I got a bunch of stuff to try one of these days, just finding the time.
You video was shot at the widest lens setting I take it. It was pretty smooth. But you were in pavement too.
Hey that car that came at you? Was that an old 1948 Ford? TripleJ could tell us.
Like your Dog too! Pretty Dog

That was a 62 (I think) VW Bug. That old man thinks he's got a hot rod. Don't know why, but I can't get the Metacafe link to work again. I'll keep playing around with it and get it posted when my review is done. I think the mounting under the helmet visor is a good idea, but I ride with a full face. I'll rig up something. Thanks for the comments.
Metacafe was better IMO, Didn't see any bright light pixel in that one. Was clearer too.

At this time we don't have the Metacafe code to do that. But it can be done. We do have the Photobucket code.

I'll check out photobucket in the morning. Hopefully I can get a ride in Sunday and figure out my helmet mount. I look forward to posting a good review. Thanks for the help.
I posted a pic instead as the link wouldn't take where needed.
I've found most plumbing stuff works pretty good. It looks like your unit is more oval that round (but might just look that way due to flat spot for controls) so that one may not work but gives an idea of what can be used. I know them make some that are more oval as well but not sure on size.
It's just a pipe clamp that snaps shut and can be reopened. They come in different sizes and any hardware store should carry them.
