3rd annual Arizona Camp/Ride! February 18th – 21st 2010
Well we have done this two years in row & we had a blast so…., we decided why not do it again. This is camping and riding in the Arizona desert at it’s best! For those of you that have not rode atv’s in AZ, you're missing a great area for riding. There are very scenic to very difficult type of rides available. Bring your camera; the scenery on most rides is spectacular.
Come ride with MontanaJim, Toad, Zane, Azquadrider & more…
We’ll ride right out of camp. The trails are moderate to difficult. There are more trails than we can ride in 3-4 days. (We have not rode all the trails available in the last two years of this event)
The elders discussed a possible location change from the last two years…After some discussion we decided to ride/camp at the same location as last year, which is about 50 miles east from the Phoenix metro area. The closest towns are Florence, Superior, & Gold Canyon. For anyone that wants a more exact area, look up Florence Junction, AZ on map quest. We are about 5 miles south of this location. I’ve give out the exact location and GPS coordinates as the date gets closer. For anyone bringing children, there is a lot of space for them to play or ride small quads.
The availability of dry camping (campers, RV, toy hauler, tent, etc) is limitless in AZ. That is not a problem at all. (I'll be camping also) However, if you want to hotel it, there are plenty of hotels close to most riding areas. I would advise booking hotels early as winter visitors to AZ is quite popular. There is a very nice hotel (Gold Canyon Resort) and spectacular golf course not far from out camping area.
The usual February temps are upper 30’s-low40's at night and 70's during the day. Perfect riding temps! We usually don’t get much rain, but at the 1st year’s event, it rained for 2 days so be prepared in case.
Bring firewood! Buy a few bundles of wood at the local Circle-K, ...BRING FIREWOOD!!!!!!. BRING FIREWOOD!!!!!!!! BRING FIREWOOD!!!!!
Keeping with tradition of the last two years, we’ll roast a pig on Saturday night to celebrate another fun get together. While we will be riding all day, the pig will be roasting in a pit all day. Everyone brings a side dish to compliment the pig. I’ll post a sign-up sheet for side dishes as the date gets nearer. I’ll need a somewhat accurate head count for attending the Saturday Night Feast, so we know what size pig we order. I bought the pig the 1st year, Bob(ballbearing) bought the pig last year. Anyone want to step up for this year?????? The approximate price is $150.00-$200.00. If no one steps up to the plate soon, we will go to plan B.
We will be camping & riding on several sections of land. This means to be legal, you need a state trust land permit. They are $15 for single & $20 for family. The link for this is http://www.land.state.az.us/programs/natural/recreation_permit.htm
Comments?/Question??? What am I forgetting? Oh yeah, bring me a beer!
To help track the folks that are coming to the AZ Camp/Ride, I’ll keep a current running list. This will help set up ride(s), when to look for people arriving, how big a pig we need, etc. If you can send me a PM or post up with Screen Name, names of people in your party, how many will be riding, arrival date. I’ll add your name(s) to the list:

Gee Jeff this means I better post the Moab thread in a couple weeks. I really got to get down there this coming year. I got some work coming up in Show Low, working for a good friend of mine. I just hope he doesn't want me to travel with him to some war torn country in February.

Hey Jeff, you know we'll be there! It will be interesting to see what kind of new adventures you guys can come up with for us tourists. Last years ride out to Hackberry was certainly fun, especially when Jim thought it would be a good idea to head back to camp by way of Walnut canyon ( I believe that was the name ) and then down by the river past the coke ovens. If Hackberry hill didn't wear you out the ride back sure did. We look forward to seeing you guys out here in October, that should be a lot of fun too.

You have three states listed on your avatar. I assume you're referring to the $3.00 AZ OHV sticker? If so, you still need a plate to put the sticker on, so you still need an AZ registration. The good news is the registration became a lot cheaper with the new OHV sticker program. If you have Oregon or Utah requirements met, then I believe you're OK, with reciprical agreements. Don (azquadrider) is checking into, just to make sure. Don or I will update soon.

This copied from the AZ Game & Fish web page. They are one of the enforcing agencies in AZ. It is pretty clear...I think?.....
If you are from out-of-state coming into Arizona, you can still operate here as long as you meet all of the following requirements:
You are not a resident of Arizona.
You own the vehicle.
Your vehicle displays current registration or user indicia from your permanent state of residency.
The vehicle is not in Arizona for more than 30 consecutive days.
If you come to Arizona from a state that does not register or title OHVs, you would be requested to get an Arizona title and purchase the OHV decal for legal use in Arizona.
PS: Azquadrider hates staying on the ground all the time

I think you'll be fine. I'd worry more about what kind of trails we are thinking about doing than anything else
I look forward to meeting you. I'll be looking for a head count around December....
