The Hatfield-McCoy Trail System recently opened a number of trails to approved UTVs.
LYBURN, W.Va. — West Virginia's Hatfield-McCoy Trail System recently opened its green and blue trails (which designate easy and moderate terrain) to approved UTVs. This makes Hatfield-McCoy the largest UTV-friendly trail system in the country, Hatfield-McCoy said in its latest newsletter.
Side-by-side vehicles are only allowed on Hatfield-McCoy's green and blue trails and are subject to a number of safety rules, according to the newsletter. All UTV operators on the trails must possess a valid driver's license and the number of passengers on a UTV is limited to the number of working seat belts, among other regulations.
The side-by-side machines approved for use on the Hatfield-McCoy Trails are the Arctic Cat Prowler, the Kawasaki Mule and Teryx, the Kubota RTV, the Polaris Ranger and Razor, the Suzuki QUV, and the Yamaha Rhino.

The side by sides have been a huge success on the HM TRails! They have enabled husbands to ride with wives and children. It has help involve the family a little more. We are a vendor for the trails. Is it true then that the harder trails are not open to UTV's ?
Ok i read all the rules and black and red black are not open to UTV's
My question is then what machines are the black and red black trails open to ?
Are rail buggies allowed and rock crawlers ?
I would think UTV's can in general do harder trails than atv"s
What say yee ?

Big news out of Hatfield~McCoy Country for all side by side riders: UTV's are now allowed on all Easiest, More Difficult, and soon on select Most Difficult Trails! The field crew will be woking through the next couple of months to get signage changed on these newly approved black trails.
