Have had my 02' 400I Manual for quite awhile now (3,300 Miles)And have had reasonably good luck with it (Two sets of front ball joints, one winch contactor, and, two CV boots) The brakes are the one complaint I have with this machine. They never were very good from the start, foot braking is almost non-existent (since new) and the master cylinder which looks like it stops all four wheels sometimes wont pickup fluid when you pull the lever. Usually if you cycle the master cylinder several times it'll work. But since I bought another machine, the wife has been riding it more, and I think it's finally time to put a good fix on it before we have an accident. I've taken it apart several times and bled the system out, changed fluid etc. and it seems to last about a week before it loses pressure again. I've looked at a new MC from Arctic Cat, and they're about 80$ which doesn't seem outrageous, but I don't want to spend that much and have it do the same thing a year from now. I inspected the cylinder bore and it appears to be in good shape. But years ago I looked for a rebuild kit for it but was unsuccesful. Is there a MC off something else that would have the correct piston ratio to work, and be on the correct side. I'm not really interesting in seperating the brakes front to rear like some have done, I just want it to stop good when the brakes are applied.
Thanx in advance.

Well it does sound like the master cylinder is at fault. You might check with Sanny651 over on Arcticchat.com he may have a good used one that would save you some money. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Some one will be along that knows a fix.

I had one that did the same thing. Invest in the new part. It's an easy job and it solved my problem completely.
