I purchased the lowering kit from Donnie Ratledge through BruteManKelly. From as soon as you open the box you see nothing but top quality workmanship and parts I was very impressed. The instructions were easy to follow and pretty much take away the rusted bolts you have in there since you bought the machine installation time is minimal, I took my time and it was done in about a half an hour. My first ride was today and besides it being cold it was a great afternoon to try it out. First impression was that my Brute felt a lot like my 650 Prairie that I have when I go in the trails, with my 27 XTR’s the quad can feel a little top heavy compared to others nothing you can’t get used to but this kit made it feel better to the ground. There was a lot of ice so any real high speed test couldn’t happen. I would suggest this to anyone who would like to make you Brute feel more connected to the ground. I will say though my 27’s do rub on the front bumper when the bike slams down from a wheelie but I will fix that by taken the cover off the bumper and pulling the bumper tubes forward. I believe I hit one to many trees on the right side and that side hits not the left. So don’t hesitate to email Donnie at dratledge1@yahoo.com or PM BruteManKelly for any questions.

Good to here that VTPRAIRIE. We worked real hard to get it right. Mine has been on for almost 10 months and no problems. It was the proto-type, the one you have is better.

Just talked to Donnie. He said he has shipped out 5 so far. Hopefully they will give us some more feed back. Also we are going to try and make some for the Grizzly. I'm dropping off a Grizz to him Friday for R&D.

Donnie at dratledge1@yahoo.com
He will hook you up. If you have any install or technical questions pm me and I'll help you out.
Read the review on it also. It gives more info. We have been working on this project for about a year.

I will regret to say that with my 27 xtr's I get more hitting on the headlights after wheelies and such when it slams down that for the most part I will be running it in regular positin with my 27's and when I drag race at events I will lower it with my 25's I was thinking of getting a set of 26 by 14 inch terracrosses instead but honestly there expensive and If i switch that is what I want I will be playing around with the kit maybe leave the back end up and lower the front when I race I love the fact I can leave the brackets on and switch levels around with just a jack and a 14mm wrench's

I will keep you up to date

hey fellas, im confused...why would you want to lower your bike? what type of riding do you do? seems like everyone just wants to lift their bikes. curious to hear your point of view.

Personaly I lowered mine for stability, The Brute has so much torque that it can become unstable on high speed trail riding. With the rear stabilizer bar out and now lowered this machine is just about perfect.

gotcha, so the main reason is to lower the center of gravity? how would you say the torque on your brute compares to a kingQ700?

there are extensive threads on Nyroc covering the stabilizer bar but combined now with the lowering Kit its sweet.
My buddy runs a new KFX 450, and has only had sport quads, even likes it.
If you read this months QUAD magazine they pitted the BF 750 vs the KQ 750 and performance wise BF cleaned up, KQ won the stability, for $ 200 and little wrench time the BF will clearly win overall.

Thanks Big Ed. That's what I was hoping for when we were first designing the kit. There has been a lot of time put into this project. I went to Donnie with the basic idea and he made it work with his knowledge of setting up a race car to run 200 mph and stay off the wall. I have about a year on the proto type kit and no problems at all. I ride hard every time out. The magazines rate who ever pays for the add the winner, we tell the truth out in the woods and trails.

Glad everyone that has my lowering kit likes it. Like BM KELLEY said this project has been on going for about a year now, and I think it is the perfect addition to a BF no matter what, If any mods you have done. Thanks to all of you for the posts and replies on this kit. My wife is working on the patent crap now. Alot of stuff to do for that but it is in the works. BM KELLEY will be droping a grizz. off in the next few days so I can get that one done. It should be ready to ship out within a month or so. And got a couple other bikes to look at, anyone know what would be the next best bike to make a kit for? Just let me know. I'm guessing the KQ would be good even though it handles well now, you can never have enough in the handling erea, even with alot less h.power on some of the other quads you can make up the difference with better handling. Thanks again to all of you and your support, and a special thanks to BRUTE MAN KELLEY, for all his help and the IDEA! WITHOUT HIM YOU WOULD STILL NEED TO SPEND $$$$$ for the adj.shocks! Hope to see some replies on this. THANKS AGAIN TO EVERYONE!!! DONNIE, DR.METALWERKS

I was wondering if this lowering kit helped out with the BF steering by making it easier.
There was a mod some were doing by adding a couple washers to level the angled tie rods.
Does this kit change the angle of the tie rods or help lighten the steering. My 05 is a beast in steering compared to the 08 that I test drove.
