The owners manual says to screw the dipstick in to check, and it will require 2.6 qts.

The kit I got from the dealer only comes with 2 quarts of oil.

Changed the 2 qts oil and filter, ran machine for a few minutes, let sit and then checked oil. It's is at the top of the full mark with 2 qts.

Not sure which is the typo, the amount or the screwing in of the dipstick.

Going to have to contact dealer as there is no email address on the cat website for questions. Hate to be running over 1/2 a quart low.

Any clue how much the oil filter holds? If it holds 1/4 - 1/2 quart like most small automotive filters, that would make only 1 1/2 - 1 3/4 qts. in the pan. Sounds awfully short.

Edit - My new Cub Cadet mower actually gives me the oil amount on the dipstick which is 1/2 quart more than the manual. Any chance on the Prowler?

It's about a 1/2 qt filter.

Not sure which way it's suppose to go, I know the king quads were posted wrong for the amount with the way you check the oil.

I'd guess 2 quarts is awfully low but just don't know for sure.

I'll have to see if I can fax something to Cat, that way I have something in writing.

That could go two ways. If you put your number on the fax, they'll call so you won't have it on record. If not, they just won't return the fax! I like the thought though.
