Renegade - European Day Light Install (3rd Headlight)by topgun, 2007-09-08Here's an easy way to make your Renegade look a little different than the rest. In some other countries, a daytime running light is required on your machine. Most likely, the countries where you can legally drive on the road. You can purchase this light from your dealer and install it in virtually minutes. Everything is plug and play. It is shown on the parts fiche as available for the 800 as well as the 500. Tools needed for the install: Philips screwdriver. Here are the parts you need to purchase: Qty PN Description 1 710001042 Day Light 3 241641040 Pan Head Flanged Screw K40 X 10 3 234042600 Washer NOTE: This light is now listed in the new 2009 Accessories Catalog page 32, item #715000691. I would assume that this kit would be complete with everything listed above. ![]() To install, first remove your front hood. This is the same part you remove to expose your air filter box. Next lift up on the rear of the dash pulling the tabs out of the grommets. Slide it rearward and the front will become disengaged so that you can roll it over. ![]() When the dash is removed, you gain access to your fuses and other electrical components. ![]() Push out the Day Light cover plate that is installed in the dash from the factory. ![]() Install the Day Light with the screws and washers. ![]() Next, locate the white connector on the frame. It will be the one on the left where you see a row of connectors. The white plug that you see is actually a dummy plug end. You need to unplug the factory harness from that and remove the white dummy plug from the frame. There is an anchor on the bottom that fits into a hole. Squeeze the tangs on the bottom and it should pull right out. ![]() Next, plug your Day Light harness into the factory harness. You can then push the anchor into the hole in the frame. ![]() Reinstall the dash and hood and you are good to go! The light is not real bright but adds a little character. It comes on any time the key is turned on, whether you have the headlights turned on or not. You might be able to pick up a colored bulb if you were looking to add an even different look. ![]() Front shot with the headlights on. ![]() |
